Rail Live is once again delighted to welcome the revolutionary Class 93 tri-mode locomotive to the event, on behalf of Rail Operations Group (ROG). This industry-leading, mixed-traffic locomotive is setting new benchmarks in performance, sustainability, safety, and operational efficiency within the UK rail sector.

As the only tri-mode, mixed traffic locomotive in the UK, the Cl93 presents a modern, intelligent and elegant solution to innovation on legacy infrastructure that often restricts rather than enables. This industry leading product not only improves overall journey performance through speed and acceleration but also drastically reduces rail emissions and total cost of operation.

Following Rail Live 2025, ROG will commence extensive load trials to demonstrate the Class 93’s capabilities and performance across the UK rail network. The locomotive will be on public display during the event, with the ROG team offering guided tours and available to answer questions about this groundbreaking innovation.

The Class 93 has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Modern Railways Rail Innovation Awards 2025, a prestigious recognition of excellence in engineering, technology, and sustainability.

“We’re incredibly proud to be showcasing the Class 93 at Rail Live 2025 and honoured to be recognised as a finalist in this year’s Rail Innovation Awards,” said Brian Ferguson, General Manager. “The Class 93 represents a bold, privately funded step toward a more sustainable and efficient UK rail network.”
