As part of Rail Forum’s Rail Safety Week, The Mental Wealth Company (TMWC) is proud to bring the Mental Wealth Café to Rail Live — promoting wellbeing at the heart of rail safety.
The Mental Wealth Café is TMWC’s way of supporting individuals and teams with their wider wellbeing and the co-creation of a community that is all about supporting one another in a safe space, to discuss challenges and stressors and ways in which we can all help one another show up authentically and safely.
During Rail Safety Week we are focussing our attention on the principles of Psychological Safety (PS) and Non-Technical Skills (NTS).
Why?
Network Rail’s Health and Safety Vision states: “Everybody has a responsibility to behave safely and challenge unsafe behaviours and conditions when we see them”. This responsibility can only be carried out within a culture that enables and encourages this, i.e. a culture underpinned by Psychological Safety.
Non-Technical Skills are the social, cognitive and personal skills that can enhance the way you or your staff carry out technical skills, tasks and procedures. Good use of non-technical skills in the operational environment have been shown to be important in reducing operational risk and improving performance.
In partnership with:
Throughout the café sessions each lunch time we will lead an open debate on the importance of both PS and NTS
Sessions will help those new to these topics understand why they are so important, and to learn from leaders and practitioners of PS/NTS in relation to how to nurture the right culture, develop and maintain the skills importantly, how to challenge negative habits that can evolve over time.
These sessions will be chaired by TMWC’s MD and Founder , Wendy McCristal, and Lucy Prior MBE, Strategic Growth Director.
