2024 Network Rail Features

Network Rail’s ‘village’ is always one of Rail Live’s centrepiece attractions – and 2024 is no exception.

Here, you’ll find exhibits ranging from tours through mobile maintenance trains’ to demonstrations of the latest thinking in biodiversity and innovation. The village is also heavily supported by ambassadors direct from NRs apprenticeship and graduate scheme and is guaranteed to bring to life the diverse ways of working and thinking Network Rail uses everyday to maintain the infrastructure.

A MESSAGE FROM LORD PETER HENDY, CHAIR, NETWORK RAIL:

"Network Rail is really pleased to continue to support Rail Live 2024. However, pre-election restrictions on public bodies mean that Network Rail won't be able to take part in any speaking slots this year. Our team, including Andrew Haines, Network Rail Chief Executive, will still attend in force.

The Network Rail Village will still have lots of exhibits across multiple zones, including safety, technology, and vehicle demos, so please do come and say hello. Our team are still pleased to speak to you, just not in a formal, recorded manor.

We're all looking forward to seeing you there!"

Rail Live is returning for 2025! Stay up-to-date with any new announcements:

Visit the Network Rail village to find out about:

Sustainability....

Network Rail is helping make the railway simpler, better and greener – and that includes finding solutions that work in tandem with nature. Listen to Network Rail experts talk about biodiversity - and find out about the part you can play.

Innovation…

From on-track technology to models and videos, Network Rail has plenty of ways to show off its new technology - both already available and in development. Find out how Network Rail is leading the way in using ‘tech’ in proactive asset and maintenance management - and see ground-breaking prototypes such as the new MkII high performance switch system.

On-track and on-road…

With workshop facilities, an ability to carry rails and – importantly – provide protected cover to workers, Network Rail’s Mobile Maintenance Trains allow work to take place on running lines without the need to close adjacent tracks. Rail Live is pleased to welcome back one of Network Rail’s game-changing MMTs, after a popular previous visit in 2022.

However, these are not the only vehicles Network Rail is bringing to the show. A Road Rail Vehicle and electric road vehicles will be displayed at the village, while there is also the opportunity to get up close to a Class 153 Infrastructure Monitoring Train elsewhere on site.

Supplier and Networking…

Finally, and central to the Network Rail village the Supplier and Networking area is the perfect place to relax, meet and greet or even find out too how to become a supplier to Network Rail in Control Period 7, and play a role in helping the infrastructure owner be a collaborative, accessible and innovative client.
