RAIL Magazine: Make the most out of RAIL Live with our top tips
With 7000 rail professionals, more than 200 exhibitors and around 60 speakers, there is plenty to do and see. Here are some suggestions to help you enjoy the UK’s largest rail exhibition.
There are two food courts with food vans, picnic benches and parasols, as well as an indoor café. We have several options from breakfast buns and burgers to tacos and pizzas. We also have drinking water stations for reusable bottles. Make sure you keep hydrated as Long Marston is a big site to walk around. We encourage anyone with a disability or accessibility concerns to make arrangements to be able to get around the show. As organisers we have made considerable provisions for you including welfare facilities, accessible toilets, curb ramps and disabled parking areas. Transport from two local stations can be arranged.
What should I wear?
Upper-body high-vis attire is mandatory. Sturdy, comfortable shoes are highly recommended (strictly no open-toe shoes). If you do not have safety footwear on, you will not be allowed to access any open train track sidings. Please ensure you check the weather forecast and plan for the British weather (raincoats and/or sun-cream).
Can I network?
Yes. RAIL Live is where the entire rail industry gathers for two days of networking. The show’s format enables direct interaction between exhibitors, visitors and industry stakeholders throughout.
Are there live demonstrations and events?
There are – in fact, too many to mention, and you can join a variety of in-depth content sessions led by experts from Network Rail, train operators, industry partners and more. Hear from key industry leaders and innovators as they share their insight on recent industry developments.
Can I see on board locomotives and rolling stock?
You certainly can – this is the only rail event in the UK with real rolling stock on display in a real railway environment. Climb on board the Class 99, see the HydroFLEX in action and don’t forget to wander through the carriages of the Rail 200 Inspiration train – one of the last opportunities to see this special exhibition train. It will be open throughout the whole of RAIL Live.
