National Rail Museum
The National Railway Museum is home to iconic locomotives and an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance, we celebrate the past, present and future of innovation on the railways.
Our Masterplan, the £100m transformation of the National Railway Museum in York and Locomotion in Shildon, describes our journey to become a global engineering powerhouse, connecting the past with the present to inspire the innovators of the future. By creating two world-class museums in two capitals of railway industry and heritage, this once-in-a-generation project will enable us to showcase the cutting-edge innovations shaping our world today, alongside the extraordinary birth and growth of the railways.
