Rail freight: big targets and bigger opportunities
It's a tricky but exciting time in the world of rail freight. The sector is busy ensuring its role in the reformed railway remains forefront. We've got a rail growth target that is ambitious but also a little arbitrary given it is tied to rail's existing share rather than overall freight volumes. Meanwhile, logistics as it works today will simply not be viable once we have decarbonised road transport, and consequently rail will be required to absorb enormous modal shift.
